Stewart named LCES/LCIS Assistant Principal

Lewis County Schools has announced Becky Stewart as Lewis County Elementary/Intermediate School Assistant Principal.

Stewart has lived in Lewis County for the past 28 years. She has two children, Trey and Laura Stewart, who have attended and graduated from the Lewis County school system. She began her career in education as a school volunteer for the elementary school in 2006.

She graduated from Columbia State Community College with an associates of science degree in teaching in May 2009. Two years later, she received a bachelor of science degree from Middle Tennessee State University in Interdisciplinary Studies K-6 and then worked towards an endorsement in Special Education. In 2019, she graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a Masters of Education in Administration & Supervision. She has been a special education teacher for the past eleven years with the Lewis County School District, along with being the RTI Coordinator for LCIS.

In 2022, she was awarded the Special Education Teacher of the Year and received the LCIS Teacher of the Year award the following year. These opportunities have enabled me to develop strong communication, interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills which allow me to cultivate a supportive learning environment and reinforce the school’s standards, policies and goals. “I would like to thank my family and friends for their support and encouragement in pursuing a new educational career path,” stated Stewart.
