Music That Matters Fundraiser

Davis House Child Advocacy Center's annual "Music That Matters" fundraiser

Davis House Child Advocacy Center's annual "Music That Matters" fundraiser is scheduled for the night of Friday, July 14th. "We are so grateful for Highland Corporation and Blondy Church of God to be sponsoring our event this year," said DeAnna Darden-Carroll, Director of Services at Davis House.

The evening will include catered dinner and musical performances, with proceeds supporting a very important organization for our community. Davis House provides investigative and healing services to children and their families after the child has experienced a significant trauma, which is most often severe abuse. The children are able to access services provided by Davis House at no cost. As a non-profit, Davis House Child Advocacy Center is reliant on community support to provide these critical services.

Performers for the event are singer/songwriters Wynn Varble and Phil O'Donnell. They will tell the stories of writing and perform some of their award-winning country hits.

Wynn Varble's first radio single was "Fit to Be Tied Down" by Sammy Kershaw. Since then, Wynn has had numerous hits including three number ones... all three were nominated for "Song of the Year" by the CMA and/or ACM. Wynn's three number one songs are: "Have You Forgotten" by Darryl Worley, "Waitin' on A Woman" by Brad Paisley, and "I'm A Little More Country Than That" recorded by Easton Corbin. Additionally, Wynn has appeared on several tv shows and was featured weekly on the Joey & Rory Show for several years. Wynn writes nearly every day and tours extensively. He is currently signed with BMG Music Publishing.

Phil O'Donnell, a Canada native, made his first trip to Nashville in 1983 and began developing his skills as a songwriter. O'Donnell worked as a musician, playing guitar with many artists including Craig Morgan, Jeff Carson, Kevin Denney, Johnny Lee, and Sherrie Austin.
