Jr. Pro Panthers Rev Up for the 2023 Season

The Lewis County Jr. Pro Panthers have revved up for another season of youth football and cheerleading. Camp began Monday night with approximately 100 kids covering the grassy area beside the playground at Memorial Park.

Boys and girls ages 4-13 flooded the field to find out if they have what it takes to become a Jr. Pro Panther! “Camp is free,” said Director Michelle Harwell. “It’s a great opportunity for anyone who is interested to try on the shoes, so to speak. We are tough on them this week, because throughout the season, it gets hot, we get rained on, we travel everywhere, and so many more things that will test their strength. They need to know what to expect, and we want to make sure they are in it to win it! And, of course we want to win games and cheer competitions, but more importantly, we want to win at life, and building these kids up to become strong and resilient adults is what this program is founded on.”

The camp runs the 17th through 21st at the front of the park, and anyone is welcome at anytime. You can run through it, and if it is something you’re interested in, sign up on the spot. Registration ends August 10th, and the season begins thereafter.

“An exciting announcement to this year’s program,” said Harwell, “is the addition of our very own Jr. Pro School Bus! We strive to make sure there are no worries for our kids that want to play, and sometimes, transportation is. Of course, every parent wants to make it to every game, but things do come up. However, the new addition will help ease the load.”

Jr. Pro is currently accepting sponsors to go on the bus that travels to 15 counties throughout the season.
