Jay Richard Reichmuth was born on November 10, 1961, in Omaha, Nebraska to Bill and Janet (Carson) Reichmuth, the youngest of their three children. He grew up in Valley, Nebraska where he attended grade school and graduated from Valley High School in 1980. Jay enjoyed a typical small-town childhood, filled with friends, neighborhood activities, and sports. Jay was a well-rounded athlete and excelled as a starting center on the football team but his passion and talent shined as a baseball player.
