Serving Hohenwald, Lewis County Tennessee Since 1898
June 18, 1960 ~ September 2, 2023
Barry Lynn LaRue, 63, a man of immense generosity and love, was born on June 18, 1960, in Columbia. He continued to enrich the lives of those around him until his peaceful passing on September 2, 2023, in the same town where he was born.
Barry was the beloved son of Anita Duncan LaRue and the late Billy LaRue. He was a loving brother to Melody Taylor and Angie Atkins, and was predeceased by his sister, Donna Holloway. Barry's legacy will continue to live on through his children, Barry LaRue Jr. and Derrek LaRue, and his cherished grandchildren Ava, Weston, Ella, and Maxton LaRue.
An avid fisherman, Barry found solace in the simple pleasures of life. He could often be found fishing, canoeing, or kayaking through the peaceful waters around Hohenwald. His love for nature was only rivaled by his passion for music and the University of Tennessee Football; Go VOLS. Barry's enthusiasm was infectious, and he had a remarkable ability to turn even the most mundane moments into joyous occasions.
Barry was known for his thoughtful nature and his unwavering willingness to extend a helping hand. He was a man who never met a stranger, treating everyone he encountered with kindness and respect. Barry's generosity knew no bounds. He was always the first to offer assistance, whether it was a simple favor or a significant act of kindness. He lived by the philosophy that a small act of kindness could make a big difference in someone's life.
He was a man of great strength and resilience, but what truly set Barry apart was his loving heart. He cared deeply for those around him, often putting the needs of others before his own. His love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life. Barry was a loving father, an adoring grandfather, and a cherished brother. His love for his family was unending, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.
In honoring Mr. Barry's wishes, the family will hold a private service.
Visitation with the LaRue family will be held on September 6, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Blondy Family Life Center.
