$15,000 State Grant for New Equipment

September 28, 2023

Lewis County Government has been awarded a $15,000 grant from the State of Tennessee in order to purchase new supplies for the Lewis County Jail. According to Lewis County Mayor, Jonah Keltner, this is a fully funded grant and requires no local match from the county.

“This grant was successfully written by our Jail Administrator, Christie Moore, and it will be used to purchase laptops and printers for training purposes, as well as tactical gear for our Correctional Officers,” stated Captain of Jail Operations, Josh Keltner.

Sheriff Dwayne Kilpatrick reported the new addition of the Lewis County Jail opened last week, and all inmates were moved into that facility so the old building could undergo critical renovations. According to Kilpatrick, both buildings are expected to be ready to house inmates later this fall.
