Michael Ray Runions, a loving father, husband, and friend, passed away peacefully in Louisiana on October 6, 2023. Born on November 6, 1965, in New Philadelphia, Ohio, to Russell and Vera Runions, Michael was a man of many interests and talents, characterized by his friendly demeanor and handy skills.

During the course of his life, Michael found love and companionship with his wife Angela Mertz Runions. He was blessed with two wonderful children, Destinye and Dawson, who were the absolute joys of their father's life. Michael's devotion to his family was evident in his every action, and his love for them was as vast as the universe.

Michael's early life was marked by the strong bonds of family and community. He was the cherished brother of Christy and Stephanie Runions, and he shared many memorable moments with his numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother Robert "Robbie" Runions and his grandparents Malcolm and Margie Carroll Runions, and Raymond and Ados Bates Blackwell.

Michael was a man of service, having proudly served in the National Guard. This experience fostered his interest in all things military and his admiration for antique tools. He was a collector of guns, out of respect for the craftsmanship and historical significance of these items. His service to his country was a testament to his bravery and dedication, traits that he carried with him throughout his life.

In his spare time, Michael was a true handyman, always tinkering around and working on anything that could be improved. He had a knack for fixing things, a testament to his practical and resourceful nature. His love for westerns and police shows was well known among his friends and family, and many an evening was spent in front of the television, immersed in the tales of cowboys and law enforcement.

Michael's friendly nature made him a beloved figure in his community. He had a heart that was open to everyone, and his kindness and generosity were well known. He was always ready with a smile, a helping hand, or a word of encouragement. His loving nature was not confined to his family alone; it extended to everyone he met.

Visitation with family and friends was held in the chapel of Adair Funeral and Cremation Services on Wednesday, October 11, 2023,. Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday October 12, 2023, with Bro. Mark McDonald officiating. A burial followed at Springer Cemetery.
