The Lewis County Shooting Sports team held their annual team awards banquet on October 22, 2023 at the Lewis County High School Commons Area. A meal was provided by the families of shooters Aiden Johnston and Daniel Burcham for the team members and families to enjoy.
Coach Clark and Coach Bean awarded superlatives to
Daniel Burcham, Top College Shooter,
Mercie Ashmore, Top Varsity Shooter,
Lane Gobbell, Top Junior Varsity Shooter,
Andi Starcher, Top IA shooter and
Anna Burney, Top IE shooter.
Most Improved Team Shooter was awarded to Katelyn Joswiak.
Regional plaques were awarded to
Anna Burney who placed 1st in IE singles trap;
Emery Norris placed 2nd in JV singles trap;
Daniel Burcham placed 1st in College singles trap, skeet and sporting clays;
Varsity shooters made up of Tuff Lindsey, Ryan Tanner, Zoie Clark, Mercie Ashmore, Chase Carroll, Emery Norris and Clay Bean placed 3rd in both Squad and Team division.
State plaques were awarded to
Anna Burney who placed 2nd in IE singles trap; 2nd in IE handicap and 1st in IE doubles trap;
Zoie Clark who placed 3rd in Varsity Sporting Clays and 2nd in Varsity doubles trap;
Mercie Ashmore who placed 1st in Varsity doubles trap;
Daniel Burcham who placed in 3rd in College Handicap
National Plaques were awarded to
Anna Burney who placed 2nd in IE Nationals Handicap;
Mercie Ashmore who placed 1st in Varsity Nationals Doubles Trap.
All State Academic: Anna Burney Placed 1st in IE singles trap
Awards and certificates were also given for participation and the All State Academic Team qualifiers.
All the shooters who traveled to Ohio and participated in the Nationals representing Lewis County, Tennessee were given a leather gun rest and shells from the booster club. Those shooters were: Gavin Smith, Daniel Hibbits, Xavier Shook, Gabriel Shook, KC Braun, Daniel Burcham, Lane Gobbell, Zoie Clark, Clay Bean, Mahaley Bean, Liam Holt, Mercie Ashmore and Anna Burney.
The Lewis County Shooting Sports Booster Club members are so proud of how dedicated and hard working all the team members are and are looking forward to an amazing year in the 23/24 season.
