Serving Hohenwald, Lewis County Tennessee Since 1898
The Hohenwald/Lewis County Chamber of Commerce has been awarded a $15,000 grant to pay for hosting the Lewis County Outdoor Recreational Summit. Lewis County became a top contender to host the summit due to the recent investment in preserving public access to the Buffalo River through the Blueway program, bolstering Lewis County as a regional leader in outdoor waterway activities, in addition to other county natural resources such as the Natchez Trace Parkway filled with numerous waterfalls, hiking trails and historical landmarks.
"Lewis County is leveraging every opportunity and resource at our disposal to position ourselves as the leader in the region for outdoor tourism and recreation." Stated County Mayor Jonah Keltner. "This Outdoor Recreational Summit is a first, not only for Lewis County, but for the entire mid-state. Tourism has a major impact in Lewis County and we're proud of the Chamber's work on this. It wouldn't have been possible without the hard work our local Chamber of Commerce does and the dedication of Chamber Director Debbie Landers."
Landers added, "Our community is so blessed to have some amazing natural resources and even a national park right in our backyard. This summit will enable Hohenwald and Lewis County to put the flag in the ground and officially tell everyone we are open for the tourism business and we're taking the lead on it!"
The Summit will take place on December 5th at 9AM in the Strand Theater located on Main Street. Guest speakers from North Carolina have been booked to speak at the summit as well as train during the Recreational Bootcamp to follow on December 6th & 7th.
