Serving Hohenwald, Lewis County Tennessee Since 1898
Once again it's that time of year that we all gather with friends and family to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and it truly is "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year." So, let's all remember why we celebrate this holiday and why it should always be a celebration of Love, Peace, and Goodwill to all.
This year we also celebrate seventy years of our very own hometown Christmas Parade and year number nine of Christmas in Hohenwald! As we have done in the past, the Christmas Parade and Christmas in Hohenwald kicks off Thursday night, December 7th, with the lighting of our Christmas Tree, located at the corner of Main and Park (the middle of town) at 6:30 P.M. Immediately following the lighting of the tree, approximately 7:00 P.M. the parade begins its yearly route of Fun and Festivities! So, come on out and join us for a Yuletide celebration of Hometown Fun. After the parade, take a ride through the park and get a glimpse of the Christmas Lights in the Park as an early preview of one of the many attractions of Christmas in Hohenwald that begins the following night (Friday December 8th, 6:00P.M. until 9:00 P.M.) The trolley rides start at 5:00 P.M.
That's right, Christmas in Hohenwald will take place December 8th, 9th, 15th, and 16th, 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Come to the gazebo and catch a ride on the Christmas in Hohenwald Express, or NEW THIS YEAR, the Holiday Hayride! Ride through town and see our downtown decorations, the retro window display at the Rusted Hinge, and the NEW pole displays (The Twelve Days of Christmas) and on through the park to see the Christmas Light Displays. Every year we add a few NEW displays so be looking for what's new. While you are waiting at the gazebo to take a tour of our town and the displays in the park, you will be entertained with festive Christmas songs sung by The King Sisters.
After your tour through town and the park, you can return to the park where you will find Hope Skates skating rink and skate for free. Kids can ride the Ornament Express located in the park, and that's free also! You can also check out Santa's Toy Shoppe (located in the community building and transformed into a virtual Christmas mall of arts and crafts by our talented vendors). Santa Claus will also be there located at the Toy Shoppe for anyone who would like to have their pics made with Nick which is also FREE. All of the festivities are geared for the young and old alike, or as the song says, "kids from one to ninety two". Also this year we are bringing back Pineapple's Christmas Scavenger Hunt and presenting something NEW, City Hall's Christmas Mystery Message (unscramble the letters to figure out the hidden Christmas message). The letters will be located on the Big Christmas Tree in front of City Hall.
Also, remember that the last night of Christmas in Hohenwald (December 16th) brings you Jingle Jeeps and Yuletide ATVs at 7:00 P.M. followed by the FREE Joy To The World Fireworks!
In the middle of all these festivities, on December 14th, 11:00 P.M. at the Senior Citizens Center, the Hohenwald Police Department will be providing Christmas Lunch and Christmas gifts to our Senior Citizens with another version of their very own Blue Christmas.
Come for one night, a weekend, or all four nights of Christmas in Hohenwald. It's FUN, It's FESTIVE, and It's FREE! It's a gift to our community, from our community. Without our sponsors, we couldn't do it, so we would like to thank our sponsors, city employees, volunteers, and everyone that makes this happen every year. We especially want to thank everyone that comes out and participates in Christmas in Hohenwald. We absolutely LOVE seeing you all every year!
