The Lewis County Elks are currently seeking applicants for trade school scholarships and four-year nursing scholarships. Both trade schools and Associate Degrees from a community college are included. All applications are due to the lodge by January 31st, 2024. Elks Scholarships may be used at any school in the United States. Applicants do not need to be related to an Elk to apply.

Nursing Scholarships

The Nursing Scholarship program was selected as the major project for the Tennessee Elks Association in 1956 to relieve a critical shortage of nurses in Tennessee. Each year the Tennessee Elks continue to fund varying levels of scholarships to students. Nursing scholarships are available to high school seniors and adults wishing to change or advance their career. Four-year scholarships are available for $8000 and $10,000 and are valid for the school of the applicant’s choosing. Nursing scholarship application forms and information are available through TN.Elks.org. and should be returned to the local lodge. Application packets should be submitted to the Lewis County Elks Lodge #2883 before February 1st, 2024. No applications can be accepted after this date. After judging at the local and state levels, winners will be notified in April or May. In managing the scholarships, awards are paid directly to the student’s school of choice. The student then may draw against an account for allowable expenses such as tuition, books, lab fees and dormitory expense. Multiple scholarships are available for $1500 up to $2,000. Examples of Trade Scholarships include business and office technology, LPN or Associate degree RN programs, automotive, aesthetics and cosmetology, machine tool technology, welding and many others. This scholarship is sponsored by private donations from the lodge members and will go to one Trade Scholarship applicant that is a local resident of Lewis County.
