Commissioners hear ambulance service proposals

With the current extension to the contract with Maury Regional to provide Ambulance Service for Lewis County expiring on August 31, 2023, Lewis County government recently publicly requested proposals to provide ambulance service for our community, with Maury Regional and First Call each submitting a proposal. The request is to establish an exclusive contract for a term of three to five years with a qualified ambulance service to proved Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance response for 911 Emergency Calls in Lewis County.

Grand opening held at Buffalo River public access point

A Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting ceremony was recently held at the Buffalo River Blueway Public Access Point at the Mouth of Grinders Creek.

Memorial Day ceremonies

Hohenwald’s annual Memorial Day Parade held Monday brought out the dedicated friends and families who come together each year to honor the fallen veterans of Lewis County. A small service took place in front of the courthouse, where veterans posted flags that represented their branches of military and honored the MIA and POWs.

Planning commission hears concerns over proposed Dollar General

The Hohenwald Planning Commission met Monday, June 5. After the previous meeting’s minutes were approved, the floor was opened to citizen input. The room was filled, as expected, after a call-to-action was made by TCAT President Kelli Kea Carroll during a Facebook post explaining TCAT’s master plan to purchase the property, yet their inability to do so due to the land being purchased and currently under contract by another entity.


Summerfest to be held June 10

Summerfest will be held Saturday, June 10, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. where there will be tons of fun and food for all ages. The event is brought to you by the Hohenwald/Lewis County Chamber of Commerce and the Arts Council.

21 plead guilty to federal charges in Maury & Lewis County drug distribution conspiracies

Twenty-one individuals charged with distributing substantial amounts of controlled substances in and around Maury County and Lewis County, Tennessee, have pleaded guilty to federal drug distribution charges, announced United States Attorney Henry C. Leventis.

City Council discusses limiting liquor stores

A discussion was held at the June City Council meeting in regards to limiting the number of liquor stores in town.

Lewis County votes Maury Regional as ambulance service provider

The commission voted 5-2-2 to enter into a contract with Maury Regional to provide ambulance service to Lewis County. The proposal includes paying $525,000 for the next five years for a locked-in subsidy total of $2,486,530. The plans are to build an ambulance bay and modular or manufactured housing unit on Commerce Street on county property next to the E-911 building.

Other ambulance services submitting bids were First Call and Lifeguard.

Rock the Lot

The 5th annual “Rock The Lot” is back and better than ever on Saturday, July 1. Enjoy free family activities, delicious food trucks, live music by the Fleetwood Mac tribute band, World Turning, and an epic fireworks grand finale! All the fun begins at 5:30 p.m. at the City Parking Lot, 36 North Maple, when food trucks open and family activities start. The free concert starts at 7 p.m., and the evening will conclude with a spectacular fireworks show. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own seating for the concert, and their dancin’ shoes!
