Lewis County Mayor Jonah Keltner

Lewis County Mayor Jonah Keltner visited the 9 and 10-year-old Friend class of Hohenwald Seed Sowers Pathfinder Club at the Hohenwald Seventh-day Adventist Church on Thursday evening, Jan 4. This group of young people were fulfilling the requirements for their Christian Citizenship badge, which included interviewing a public figure and learning about how their local and national government is run. Students were prepared with questions for the Mayor. Their questions included thoughts such as: What does a mayor do? Are there any ways that kids could help in the community or government? How long have you been the mayor? Will Hohenwald ever have a bowling Alley? What is the hardest part about being a mayor? and many, many others. The children were impressed that someone in their government would take time to come and sit with them and entertain their questions. It was a time of enlightenment, delight and encouragement for the students as they were challenged to make a difference in their community and to think ahead to being involved in the government in the future. Special thanks to Mayor Keltner for taking the time for our children! Those in attendance were: Back Row Hudson Meyers, Cruz Brito, Front Row Levi Glick, Johann Wagoner, Katheryn Schlisner, and Anneke McNulty.
