Lorene "Dee" (Baker) Nance

Lorene "Dee" Baker Nance, aged 74, of Hohenwald, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on January 17, 1950, in Russellville, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Flossie Hinson Baker. Dee was the beloved significant other of Bill Andrews, with whom she shared many cherished moments for over 30 years.

Dee was a devoted mother to her five children: Lonnie Wayne Vaughn (Jamie), Donna Lorene DeVasier (Wade), and stepchildren Phillip (Alanis), Michael (Mashaya), and Kyle (Megan) Andrews. Her love and guidance were the foundation of their lives. She was a proud grandmother to Hunter and Dalton Vaughn; Zac and Chase Coleman; Athena, Charlie, Phoenix, Zayden, Myles, Coleman, Oliver, Stetson, Dakota, and Leighton. Dee also delighted in the joy of her great-grandchildren: Slayton, Layla, Scarlett, Elias, and Magnolia.

Her siblings, Melvin, Hulon, Robert, Carl and Carlton Baker, Irene (Tiny) Hinson, Pete, and Billy Baker, preceded her in death. However, Dee's memory will be treasured and kept alive through the stories and love she leaves behind.

Dee spent many years as a dedicated housekeeper at a local motel. Her work ethic and attention to detail were appreciated by all who knew her. Beyond her professional life, Dee was actively involved in her community, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear to those in need.

An avid reader, Dee found comfort and adventure within the pages of her books. Her love for flowers was evident in the vibrant garden she meticulously cared for, which became a sanctuary for both her and the many friends and family members she welcomed into her home. Dee's laughter was infectious, her smile was a ray of happiness, and her presence was a source of joy to everyone around her.

Those who knew Dee would describe her as loving, kind, and gentle. She approached every day with a heart full of grace and a spirit that was generous and forgiving.

Her gentle nature and unwavering positivity have left an indelible mark on her family, friends, and community. Her passing is not just a loss but a reminder of the preciousness of each moment and the impact one person's love can have on the world.

Funeral services were held in the chapel of Adair Funeral & Cremation Services on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. Burial followed at Swiss Cemetery with brothers Jimmy Andrews and Art McCormick officiating.
