Kirby Walmsley

Kirby Walmsley, a master craftsman and a person of faith and love, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2024, in Nashville, at the age of 66. Born on June 10, 1957, in Pontiac, Michigan, Kirby grew up with a passion for life and a heart full of compassion that he generously shared with everyone he encountered.

Kirby was the cherished son of the late Thomas Gary Walmsley and Mary Katherine Converse Walmsley. His vibrant spirit and infectious laughter made him a beloved husband of 45 years to D'Ann Loudy Walmsley, a devoted father to Jason Kirby Walmsley, Mandie (Brett) Frazier, and Cassie (Shawn) Clanton, and a loving grandfather to Deonté Lamar Walmsley, Breauna Kim Staggs, Julian Clanton, Emma Ann Edwards, Amahley Joella Walmsley, Saybre Riverlane Runions, and Ian Colin Frazier. His love and guidance also extended to his siblings Sue Ann Mersinger, Michael Walmsley, and Mary Beth Walmsley. He also leaves behind to carry on his memory several nieces and nephews.

Kirby is survived not only by his immediate family but also by his two cherished fur babies, Rudy Rude Dog and Titan, who brought additional joy and love to his life.

Kirby's life was marked by his unwavering dedication to family, friends, faith, and his country. He proudly served in the United States Army. He was a man of many talents and interests, with a particular gift for building model ships, carpentry, and woodworking. His creative hands were a testament to his ability to turn raw materials into works of art, a skill he enjoyed sharing through various crafts. A man of deep spiritual conviction, Kirby found solace and strength in prayer walks and was an avid follower of Joseph Prince Ministries. His daily group text messages to his family and friends, each containing a Bible verse, became a source of inspiration for each of them.

He enjoyed riding his motorcycle with friends and often attended several charity rides. Kirby's sense of adventure was matched only by his eagerness to help others. He was known for rescuing animals in need, reflecting his boundless empathy and kindness. His great personality shone bright, often cracking dad jokes that would elicit groans and laughter in equal measure. Kirby's role as a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather was paramount, and his love for his family was all he ever needed.

Kirby's commitment to his community was undeniable. He was a proud member of the Lewis County Elks Lodge #2883, where he formed lasting bonds and contributed to numerous initiatives. His legacy of service continued even after his passing, as he was a tissue donor, selflessly offering a chance at healing to others in need.

Those who knew Kirby will remember him as a loving, funny, and faith-filled man. He was a constant source of encouragement and a teacher to others, always ready to lend an ear or a helping hand. He blessed many with his thoughtful gifts and prayers, and his presence was a comfort to all who were fortunate enough to cross his path.

A Celebration of Life Memorial for Kirby Walmsley will take place at a later date, where family, friends, and loved ones will gather to honor his memory and share stories.
