David Ramey

David Ward Ramey, age 76 of Hayesville, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2020 at his residence.

He was a native of Linden where he had lived most of his life. David had owned Perry County Nursing Home for more than 28 years and retired as the administrator. All that knew him appreciated the care he provided to the elderly. He was later elected as sheriff of Perry County for one term.

David loved adventure and traveled extensively. In his younger years, he had a passion for fast cars, building them, and driving them. In his later years, he watched Nas-car on television. David enjoyed astrology and collecting American Indian and Meso-American Artifacts. His favorite saying was, "If you're not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space." He passed as dramatically as he lived life.

He was the son of the late Louie and Pearl Ramey. He was also preceded in death by many brothers and sisters.

Surviving are his wife, Suzanne Ramey of Hayesville; a son, Nick Ramey and wife, Brenda, of Hohenwald, who have two children together, Will and Abby Ramey, and Nick's step-children, Hailey Toft and husband, Jared, and their daughter, Fallon, and Ashley Dobbs and husband, Robert; a daughter, Ginger Hill and husband, Timmy, of Linden, who have three children, Seth Hill and wife, Katie, Sara Hayes and husband, Nick, and Rachel Hill and fiancé, Justin Marek. Seth and Katie have two children, Violet and Wesley, and Sara and Nick have two children, Connor and Maggie. Also surviving are a brother, Jack Ramey of Savannah; many nieces and nephews; and the mother of his children, Peggy Ramey of Hohenwald.

David loved and was proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He had a lot of friends back home and never failed to help anyone in need.

A private graveside inurnment took place at Whitwell United Methodist Church Cemetery in Linden.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of David Ward Ramey to the Perry County Animal Shelter, 249 Buffalo River Heights Road, Linden, TN 37096.

Ivie Funeral Home of Hayesville was in charge of arrangements.
