The Lewis County community has suffered a hard loss as one of our own young people has passed from this life in a car wreck Sunday night, November 22.

A Tennessee Highway Patrol accident report states William Hickerson was driving westbound in Perry County around 6 p.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve in the 5400 block of Hurricane Creek Road. The vehicle went into a slide and overturned in the roadway.

Twenty-four year old Kolton Maze was killed at the scene. Hickerson and a juvenile sustained injuries. The extent of their injuries is unknown.

The responding Trooper stated in his report that the use of seatbelts may have made a difference. The accident is still under investigation, according to THP.
