Well it is one more cold morning here in our little valley, earlier it was 30 degrees and we had some frost. Now the sky is so blue and the sun is shining nice and bright and it is warming everything up.

The cats were ready for their breakfast and warm milk early this morning. They quickly cleaned their plates and bowl of milk. I think they had plans for a big day of playing, hunting and, of course, napping.

We are finished with our breakfast too and I am now having my second cup of coffee and Bob is washing the dishes.

We had to have just a little heat this morning but it won’t be long until we can clean the old wood heating stove up and let it rest for a few months. Each year we always clean out the inside of it and our son Bobby goes up on our roof and cleans the stove’s flue pipes with a round brush on the end of a very long pipe.

The fruit trees are in full bloom and I noticed the other day that our old apple tree is beginning to bloom. We sure have had a lot of apples off that old tree over the years. Last year the apples were not as good, but the year before I canned lots of apple butter and made apple pie fillings. All you need with that apple butter is a good hot brown biscuit and that’s it. I like to make homemade fried apple pies with the filling.

Yesterday I heard the neighbors’ old John Deere tractor coming down their driveway. They were hauling hay from next to the creek up to the barn for the cows. They don’t have a lot of hay bales left but I noticed the pastures are really greening out. When he was putting hay up last year he knew just how many bales he would need.

The calendar says that springtime is here but for me it is not here yet, but almost. When it finally gets warm and stays warm, then it will be springtime to me. We still have a few little winters or cold snaps to go through yet.The Dogwood trees are about to bloom and that will be Dogwood winter, then after that we will have Blackberry winter, and most gardeners around here plan for the last frost to be around April 15th each year.

I have enjoyed this winter and all the beautiful snow and I have done a lot of quilting and have gotten some quilt tops made up also. I will put them all together and have them ready to quilt next winter, but now I am ready to see my flowers blooming and see my rose bushes in bloom. I want to start filling up all my empty canning jars. We still don’t have those windows washed but I will be getting to that real soon. I am planning on having a big yard sale as soon as I can get it all together. I have got lots of plans, I am just waiting on warmer weather.

I have finished my coffee and I am going to get busy. I am not going to worry about tomorrow and I am going to take one day at a time because God still has it all under control and He is the light at the end of the tunnel.
