One Day at a Time

Series: One day at a time | Story 64

August 18, 2022

Well it is a very quiet and peaceful morning here in our little valley. It is really cool here on the front porch and it is making my cup of coffee taste even better. I think the temperature was 59 degrees this morning, this is the first time it has been this nice in a while. The cats are all snuggled together and staying warm. It sure is comfortable. We have had some rain and now there is water in the creek. There is very little noise, I can hear a roaster crowing somewhere off in the distance and I heard a dog bark across the creek.

This morning I made a big pan of homemade biscuits and of course Bob had his homemade blueberry jam with a piece of ham and we also had some of the nice country eggs that our neighbor brought us. Bob is improving everyday, I know he is eating good. He needs to get back to washing the dishes, don’t you all think so?

With this cooler weather we are starting to have, every day is getting closer to fall and then the holidays, some folks look forward to them and some don’t.

We still have a lot of fat squirrels running around here and I still see that big ground hog down at the creek, he sure is fast and doesn’t like to been seen, you have to be lucky to catch a glimpse of him.

I was down at the creek the other day and there is a lot of different kinds of nuts for the animals to eat and store up for the winter, I think that is what they are doing.

It has been a busy week. I canned some beans, did some cleaning and I even started another baby quilt.

I made a little grocery list and went shopping. The prices on things did not seem to have gone up much, so maybe the rising grocery prices have slowed down some, but you never know when the next big price jump is coming. There was not any shortage on the things that I needed to get.

While we were out Bobby filled up our gas tank and the gas price had gone down a few cents. All of these prices not going up so high and things in the store not being out of stock because of shortages is a lot better than it has been, I think a lot of people were beginning to panic.

Every time we go through some hard times even if it is not really bad, I think we all do better afterwards and we are all a little wiser. I know it works that way for me, but of course I am just a silly old woman.

Bob is still going for physical therapy and Dr. Kamal is keeping a close check on him. Trent and everyone at Physical Therapy is really encouraging him, and I know lots of you are keeping him in your prayers. He is getting back to normal. Thank all of you and we love you all.

I have got a busy day ahead. I have clothes to wash and hang out on the line. I may make a couple of jars of blueberry jam because I still have a few berries left in freezer. My neighbor brought me some bell peppers and I am going to chop them up and put them in the freezer and a little later I will make a few jars of homemade salsa, it is really good with beans and cornbread. I have house cleaning to do, there is always something to do but I love it.

I am not going to worry about tomorrow and I am going to take one day at a time because God still has it all under control and He is the light at the end of the tunnel.

God bless
