One Day at a Time

Series: One day at a time | Story 75

Well it is a beautiful fall morning here in our little valley, the wind is blowing and there is a light rain coming down and the tree leaves are falling. The cats have snuggled back down and are sleeping, they like to sleep on rainy days. I have my coffee and I am really enjoying this morning, I have got a busy day ahead so I am enjoying this quiet time while I can.

We have had another busy week, Bob raked some leaves, aren’t you all happy he is able to rake leaves, I know you all have prayed a lot for him, thank you so much. I have done some cleaning and I am getting ready for what you all know that I have on my mind, Christmas and decorating!

Our daughter Pam brought us some turnip greens out of their garden and for dinner I cooked a big pot of them, they sure were good, thank you Pam.

Bobby worked on the gutters some more. He come to the door and got me and there was a bald eagle flying around just above the tree tops, he said he looked up and there it was and we could also hear it calling, what a nice sight, then later on way up in the sky we saw a large hawk circling, it must have been huge because it was up so high and it still looked large and also while Bobby was finishing up on the gutter a very large vulture was swooping down between the trees, it looked like it had a wingspan of 6 feet!

I do not know what kind of winter we will have, I have heard some say cold and snowy, and others say it will be wet and mild, I guess we will not know until it gets here.

We are still hearing about shortages on food and gas but mostly on the grains and diesel fuel, but there seems like there has always been a shortage on something. I am not going to worry about it, I will do the best I can and trust in the good Lord and He will take care of us if I do my part.

You know my mind goes back to the story of the grasshopper and the ant, and the saying waste not and want not. I have learned if I just take a little time and be a little more careful with what I do it really helps. Little things like when I leave the room I turn the light off, when I am finished with the hot water I turn it off, when I need to wipe something up I use a cloth towel instead of a paper towel, see I am trying to do better.

My washing machine has cut off but I can not hang the clothes out on the line because there is a light rain falling.

Bob has got the dishes washed and the kitchen spotless, he really does a good job and I am proud of him.

I am looking forward to this week, I am getting everything ready and I want to start decorating, Every year right after Halloween is over we have to start decorating for Christmas, Bobby starts getting the trees out of storage and before long I will start putting my red and green on the front porch. I try to have everything done by Thanksgiving and then I can really enjoy Christmas.

The cats are getting back up now and are ready for their treats and it is time for me to get busy, I am looking forward to this day and I am going to enjoy it.

I am not going to worry about tomorrow and I am going to take one day at a time because God has it all under control and He is the light at the end of the tunnel.

God bless
