The Lewis County Middle School Lady Panthers opened their 2023 softball season when they traveled to Waynesboro on Tuesday, February 28th to play the Wayne County Lady Wildcats.

Taya Tiller led the gameoff with a walk and wasnfollowed by a run-scoring double by Makaela Dodson, and Dodson would work her way around to score on a Julie Roden fielder's choice as the Lady Panthers jumped out to a 2-0 lead. Brailey Carroll was the starting pitcher for Lewis County, and the Lady Wildcats would pick up a run in the bottom of the first after an error put the leadoff aboard, and the Lady Panthers held a 2-1 lead after one. Reagan Grippi would reach by walk to start the second and make her way around to score after a one-out single by Tiller and a double by Dodson to put Lewis County up 3-1. Carroll struck out two in a perfect second and theLady Panthers held on to a 3-1 lead. Both teams were held scoreless over the third inning. In the top of the fourthinning Makaela Dodson pickedup her third hit of the game on a single to and would cross the plate on a Jaelin Baugh double to extend the Lewis County lead to 4-1, and Carroll would once again retire the Lady Wildcats in order to complete four innings of play. Both teams would again be kept off the board in the fifth. With one down in the top half of the sixth Tiller would single, and with two outs Baugh and Roden would each double and Brooklyn Crowell would single to bring home four more runs and Lewis County took control of the game 8-1. Carroll would retire three in a row in the bottom of the sixth to take the game into the final inningof play. A pair of walks to Tiller and Kaylee Szostek would lead to two more runs for the Lady Panthers, giving them a 10-1 lead, and Brailey Carroll wouldend the Lady Wildcats night with a scoreless seventh as Lewis County took down Wayne County 10-1.

Brailey Carroll went the distance,7 innings of work while allowing only one hit, one unearned run, as she struck out 6 and walked none. Makaela Dodson had 3 hits, 2 doubles, scores 3 runs, and had an RBI, Taya Tiller 2 hits and 2 runs, Jaelin Baugh 2 doubles, 1 run, and 2 RBI, Julie Roden a double, a run, and an RBI, Brooklyn Crowell a hit and an RBI, Raegan Grippi a run scored,and Kaylee Szostek a run scored.

The LCMS Lady Panthers played their first home game of the 2023 softball season on Tuesday, March 7th when they hosted the E.O. Coffman Lady Panthers at Lewis County High School.

Julianna Roden took the mound to start for the Lady Panthers and took the Coffman batters in order with one strikeout in the inning. Lewis County would pick up a pair of runs in the home half of the first as Makaela Dodson singled in front of a Jaelin Baugh hit and both would score on a Julianna Roden fielders choice that gave Lewis County a 2-0 lead. Roden worked a perfect top of the second, and the Lady Panthers would add to their lead in the home half. A pair of walks to Lyric Inman and Bree Conner would start things off, and both would cross the plate on a double from Taya Tiller. A walk by Dodson and singles by Baugh and Roden would bring home three more as Lewis County tooka 7-0 lead after two complete. Julianna Roden again faced the minimum in a perfect third, and the Lady Panthers went down in order in the bottom half, keeping the score 7-0 Lewis County. Roden took down the Coffman lineup in order in the top of the fourth. Tiller started the home fourth drawing a walk and Baugh would reach with one down being hit by a pitch, then Brailey Carroll delivered a two-run single toput the Lady Panthers up 9-0 as the game reached the fifth inning. Brailey Carroll took over on the mound and was strong in the visitor's fifth as she struck out the side in a perfect inning. Presley Clayton connected for a leadoff doule in the bottom of the fifth, and Lewis County would load the bases with a pair of walks and a fielder's choice aheadof a run-scoring sacrifice fly by Dodson to put the Lady Panthers up 10-0 after five complete. Brailey Carroll would end Coffman's night by retiring the three batters in order to complete the combined perfect game as Lewis County took the win 10-0.

Julianna Roden went 4 innings on the mound and allowed no runs, no hits, walked none, and struck out 4. Brailey Carroll went 2 innings in relief allowing no runs, no hits, walking none, and striking out 5. Taya Tiller had a double, 2 runs, and an RBI, Makaela Dodson had a hit, 2 runs, and 2 RBI, Jaelin Baugh a hit, 3 runs, and 2 RBI, Brailey Carroll a hit and 2 RBI, Julianna Rodena hit and 3 RBI, Presley Clayton a double, Lyric Inman a run scored, and Bree Conner a run scored.

The Lewis County Middle School Lady Panthers hosted the Santa Fe Lady Wildcats on Friday, March 10th.

Brailey Carroll drew the start at home for Lewis County and worked a perfect first while striking out two. Makaela Dodson singled with one out in the bottom of the first and would move into scoring position after an error and walk loaded the bases. Julie Roden brough in the first Lewis County run with a fielder's choice, and Lewis County would bring in 5 more runs via walks and errors and held a 6-0 lead at the end of the first. Carroll returned to the mound and made quick work of the Lady Wildcats, striking out the side in order. Jaelin Baugh would drive in Dodson with a double in the second and would come around to score after a Brailey Carroll single and a fielder's choice from Roden as Lewis County took an 8-0 lead after two. Carroll would work around a pair of one-out errors and strikeout three in the third to keep the Lady Wildcats off the board. Brooklyn Crowell started the home third with a single and Kaylee Szostek reached on an error ahead of a two-run double by Taya Tiller and Lewis County held a 10-0 lead. Sanat Fe would finally push runs across in the fourth, both unearned, after a costly error with runners on that made the score 10-2 after three-and-a-half. The Lady Panthers would get two on in the bottom of the fourth with a walk to Presley Clayton and a single by Brooklyn Crowell, but Lewis County would come up empty and the score would remain 10-2. Julie Roden would take over on the mound in the fifth, and an error, a walk, and a hit batter would set up the Lady Wildcats to plate a pair and it a 10-4 game. The Lady Panthers would end the game in the home fifth after Tiller and Dodson reached ahead of singles from Baugh and Carroll and Kaylee Szostek walked with the bases loaded to bring home the run that ended the game with Lewis County taking down Santa Fe 14-4.

Brailey Carroll picked up the win, going four innings while allowing 2 unearned runs on 2 hits and striking out 11. Julie Roden threw one inning of relief, gave up 2 runs, 1 earned, allowing 1 hit and issuing 1 walk. Jaelin Baugh had 2 hits, a double, 3 runs, and 2 RBI, Makaela Dodson 2 hits and 3 runs, Brailey Carroll 2 hits, 1 run, and 2 RBI, Brooklyn Crowell 2 hits, a run, and an RBI, Taya Tiller a double, 1 run, and 3 RBI, Julie Roden a run and 2 RBI, Presley Clayton 2 runs and an RBI, Lyric Inman 1 RBI, and Kaylee Szostek a run and 2 RBI.

The Lewis County Middle School Lady Panthers softball team hosted the Perry County Lady Vikings on Monday, March 13th.

Julie Roden took the start for the Lady Panthers and worked out of a bases loaded jam for a scoreless first. Taya Tiller led of the home half with a double and Makaela Dodson followed with a walk. Brailey Carroll plated two with a one-out single and scored on a Brooklyn Crowell single and Lewis County took a 3-0 lead. Perry County went down without scoring in the second, and Lewis County would add to their lead. Kabry Adkins led off with a walk and scored on a doubleby Tiller. Tiller would cross on a triple by Dodson. After an infield hit by Jaelin Baugh Carroll drove in a run with a single. Run scoring singles from Lyric Inman and Kaylee Szostek would bring home two more and the Lady Panthers went up 8-0. Roden worked perfect third inning, and the Lady Panthers were held scoreless in the bottom half but held an eight-run lead. Roden would run into trouble in the topof the fourth as Perry County strung together a pair of walks, three singles, and a double to score six in the inning to cut the Lewis County lead to two. Julie Roden would leadoff the bottom of the fourth with a single and Lewis County would add a run on a fielder's choice by Crowell to make it a 9-6 game. Roden bounced back in the fifth, working around a leadoff single to keep the Lady Vikings off the board. Tiller would lead off the home fifth with a single and Dodson followed with a homerun. Baugh, Carroll, and Roden would hit back-to-back-to-back doubles, Inman followed with a run scoring fielder's choice, Crowell added an RBI single, and a two-out double from Adkins would score one more. When the dust settled at the end of the fifth Lewis County had pulled out to a 15-6 lead. Roden benefitted from a big double play in the sixth tohold the Lady Vikings scorelessin the frame,and Lewis County went down in order in the bottom half leaving the score 15-6 moving into the last inning. Cambree Runions came in relief and retired the side in order, striking out two

Julie Roden went 6 innings, allowed 6 runs on 8 hits while walking 5 and striking out 5. Cambree Runions went 1 inning and struck out 2. Taya Tiller had 4 hits, 2 doubles, 3 runs, and an RBI, Brailey Carroll had 4 hits, a double, 3 runs, and 2 RBI, Makaela Dodson 3 hits, a triple and a homerun, 3 runs, and 3 RBI, Julie Roden 2 hits, a double, a run, and an RBI, Brooklyn Crowell 2 hits, 1 run, and 2 RBI, Jaelin Baugh 2 hits with a double, Lyric Inman 2 hits and an RBI, Kaylee Szostek 2 hits and an RBI, and Kabry Adkins a double,a run, and an RBI.

The Lewis County Middle School Lady Panthers traveled to Columbia on Tuesday, March 14th for a matchup against the Whitthorne Lady Tigers.

The Lady Panthers opened the game up with consecutive two-out hits by Jaelin Baugh and Brailey Carroll but came up empty in the top of the first. Brailey Carroll took the mound for Lewis County and retired the Lady Tigers in order. Lyric Inman reached by being hit by a pitch tostart the second and, after a pair of fielder'schoice ground balls, Lewis County would catch fire with six hits in the inning. Taya Tiller singled ahead of a Makaela Dodson and a triple by Baugh gave the Lady Panthers a 4-0 lead. Carroll singled to plate Baugh and Julie Roden doubled to score Carroll and Lewis County took a 6-0 lead into the bottom of the second. Whitthorne went down in order to end the inning. Brooklyn Crowell started the third drawing a walk and scored on a triple by Tiller. Dodson followed with a single and Baugh doubled ahead of three Whitthorne errors that allowed Lewis County to stretch theirlead to 11-0. A leadoff single in the bottom of the third would lead to the Lady Tigers first, and only, run of the day as the Lady Panthers led 11-1 as the game reached the fourth inning. Dodson tripled to start the fourth and scored on a singleby Baugh. Roden singled one out that brought drove in another and Lewis County held a 13-1 lead. An erroron a ball hit to left gave the Lady Tigers a runner,but Carroll retiredthe next three Whitthorne batters to end the gameas Lewis County took the win 13-1.

The LCMS Lady Panthers traveled to Clifton for a matchup with the Frank Hughes Lady Lions on Thursday, March 16th.

The Lady Panthers jumped on the Lady Lions early in the first. Taya Tiller drew a walk to lead off the game and Makaela hit a two-run homerun. Jaelin Baugh doubled and Brailey Carroll walked, and both would come around to score with a single from Lyric Inman and a misplayed ball off the bat of Kabry Adkins. Lewis County held a 4-0 lead at the end of the first half-inning. Julie Roden took the mound for Lewis County and gave up a one-out double and a two-out double allow Frank Hughes' first run. A walk to Brooklyn Crowell started the top of the second and Taya Tiller circled the bases after a misplayed ball scoring two. Dodson followed with a single and scored on a triple by Baugh. Carroll drove in Baugh with a single and scored on a groundout by Roden that put the Lady Panthers up 8-1. The Lady Lions went down scoreless in the second. Kaylee Szostek walked to start the visitors' third and Crowell singled with Tiller following with a single. Baugh came up with a two-out double and scored on a Carroll single as Lewis County went up 11-1. Roden worked around a two-out double for a scoreless third. Adelynn Ogle started the fourth with a walk and scored on Tiller's one-out single. Tiller would come in to score on a double by Dodson, and Dodson would cross on a single by Baugh as the Lady Panther lead grew to 14-1. Roden was perfect in the Frank Hughes fourth. Reagan Riley reached on a dropped third strike to start the fifth and came in to score on a double by Crowell. Presley Clayton doubled to bring home Crowell and Dodson followed with a walk. Baugh doubled to plate two more and Lewis County went up 18-1 Roden finished off the game striking out two of the final three outs to seal the win.

Julie Roden went 5 innings allowing 1 run on 3 hits, striking out 9 and walking 4. Jaelin Baugh had 4 doubles, 2 runs, and 4 RBI, Taya Tiller 2 hits, 4 runs, and 2 RBI, Makaela Dodson 3 hits, a double and a homerun, 3 runs, and 3 RBI, Brailey Carroll 2 hits, 2 runs, and 2 RBI, Brooklyn Crowell 2 hits, a double, 2 runs, and an RBI, Lyric Inman a hit, a run, and an RBI, Presley Clayton a double, a run scored, and an RBI, Julie Roden 1 RBI, and Adelynn Ogle a run scored.
