Jerry Lee Barber, 83, retired maintenance employee for DuPont in New Johnsonville for 36 years, died Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Life Care Center of Columbia from complication from Parkinson’s disease.

A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at South Gate Church of Christ with Jim Pollard, John Thomas, and Joe Macer officiating. Military honors will be provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be in Swiss Cemetery in Hohenwald at a later date. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements.

Born February 6, 1940, in Lewis County, he was the son of the late Escar Barber and the late Estelle Duncan Barber. Mr. Barber served in the United States Army. He enjoyed spending time with his family and working on projects around the house. Mr. Barber was a member of South Gate Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, whom he married July 19, 1968, Judy Edwards Barber of Columbia; daughter, Leigh Anna (Jim) Pollard of Columbia; son, Travis (Tina) Barber of Clarksville; grandchildren, Cladie Pollard, Evan Barber, Shelby Barber, Jacob Pollard, Reid Barber; step-grandson, Stephen (Jennie) Brewer; and several nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers include Price White, Tom Cowell, Billy Sims, Carter Hill, Terry Burgess, Edward Hargrove, Nathan Hixson, Ray Rummage, and Wendell Burke.
