It was reported in the 09/28/23 Herald edition that a Opioid Abatement committee was formed. This, however, did not occur. No commissioners sponsored that resolution because the state offered to serve as Lewis County’s committee, thus no committee needed to be formed. Instead, the County Commission sponsored a resolution appointing an Opioid Abatment Fund Administrator (resolution 09-24F-23) to serve as the point of contact with the state to distribute the money. Houston Hamblin was appointed as administrator.
