Mayor W.C. Keaton signed a proclamation naming October 4 through 10 as National Employ the Physically Handicapped Week.

The County and City announced that the opening of bids and the letting of the contract for the building of the 33,000 square feet building to be occupied by Wynn Industries would begin on October 13, 1953.

A 2 a.m. fire erupted in the music building at LCHS on October 7. The building was in the process of being redecorated and someone had left a large cloth over the gas heater. The rag ignited and set fire to a book case along with some sheet music. Firemen carried the burnin...
