Doris Marie Morrison

Doris Marie Morrison, passed away peacefully in Fairview, on October 3, 2023, at the age of 89. Born on April 4, 1934, in Humboldt, she was the embodiment of kindness and grace.

Doris was the daughter of the late Dee Ayers and Bessie Woods. She was the wife of the late Billy Jo James and later, the late Lee Morrison.

She is survived by her children Billy Wayne (Donna) James, Phyllis (Ronnie) Collins, Kevin (Cathy) James, Christy (Don) Shepard, Jon (Susan) James, Sandy (Joe) Laba, and Don (Pam) Morrison, brother Bobby (Peggy) Ayers and sister Sue Scott. She was the proud grandmother to 18 grandchildren, David (Emily) James, Darren (Elizabeth) James, Joshua Duncan, Timothy (Mandy) Duncan, Billy (Brittany) Collins, Allen Collins, April (Ramie) Colson, Jessica Johnston, Diresse Smith, Tyler (Hayley) Smith, Gerri (Robert) Giera, James (Danielle) Laba, Jarred Laba, Jessey Laba, Bethany (Tim) Neldrett, Emily (Tim) Towers, Whitney (Edgar) Bermudez, and Courtney (Dustin) Neevel, 32 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

Doris spent over a decade delivering Meals on Wheels, bringing not just food, but also her infectious joy and compassion to those she served. Her dedication to service was a testament to her unwavering love for her community. To know her was to love her, a sentiment echoed by all who crossed her path. Doris possessed a rare gift, the ability to see the best in everyone, never uttering a negative word about anyone.

Her interests were as diverse as they were heartfelt. Doris was an exceptional cook, known far and wide as the Queen of fried pies. Her Hershey's syrup pie was renowned among family, friends, and churchgoers, a sweet symbol of her nurturing spirit. Doris also loved to sing, her voice a melody that brought joy and comfort to all who heard it. She was a devoted member of the Slippery Church of Christ.

Funeral services were held Friday, October 6, at McDonald Funeral Home in Hohenwald with John Eglinton and Darren James officiating.

Burial followed in the Edwards Cemetery.
