We enjoyed a nice week and weekend with the daytime temperatures being in the mid to upper seventies and the nighttime temperatures in the forties and fifties. The leaves are really falling, and some have been mowing them up and others are raking them and putting them on garden spots. They also make good beds in dog houses.

Those I know of who are sick either at home, in nursing facilities or in the hospitals are: Kasey Baker, Joyce Barnes, Colene Beasley, Lynn Brown, Gertie Carroll, Spencer Clark, Robert and Pat Dickson ,Jerry Edwards, Ophelia Green, Carolyn Hargrave, Darrell Hinson, Wanda Holloway, Debbie Johnston, Florine Johnston, Bobby Kilpatrick, Denny King, Monette King, Claire Elizabeth Mayberry, Ronnie Lewis, Doug Miller, Howard Miller, Janice McCann, Jackie McFall, Carla Murphy, Joy Orman, Roger Pace, Alvie Pickford, Debbie Pierce, Jill Rankin, Harry Runions, Tina Sharp, Bobby Simmons, Johnnie Faye Skelton, Terry Stutts, Jeff Tatum, Diane Williams, Doug Williams, and Annette Williams. Many are having covid so be careful where you go and be safe and try to stay away from large crowds. Remember these in your daily prayers that they might be better and for any others that need prayers.

We wish a happy birthday to Ronnie Carroll the 28th, Nancy Watkins and Jenny Carroll the 29th, Savanah Buchanan, Barbara Barrier and Kay Gordon the 30th, Jerry Roden, Misty Brandon, and Loren Runions the 2nd. We wish for these a very happy birthday and many more years to celebrate life

Prayers for all those who have lost loved ones this past week. These are the ones I know about Eunice Jane Higgins Cotham, Anthony Tim Ferro, Eddie Wayne Anderson, Charles C. W. McCaleb, Bobby Darrell “Dogg” Duncan, Eva Pearl Stephens, Mildred Katheen Elliott, and Rosa Avelee Ligon. Prayers for these families and any others about which we may not know.

Children are looking forward to all the Halloween parties and events around town. The library is having something on Saturday the 28th, also the Pet Expo event in the park on Saturday and Sunday, also other events watch the local paper for announcements.

Had a wonderful week for the October Heritage and History Festival. There was some rain on Sunday but by then most things were finished and many had packed up the leftovers and moved on. Hope you were able to enjoy some of it along with all the different music in the downtown area.

We are moving quickly toward the end of this year with only two months left and our next writing the last week in October and then it will be November.

The Lewis County Historical Society will have a meeting on November 6, 2023 at the senior citizen building. Please make plans to attend at 6 pm. Watch the paper for our program announcement and other things of interest.
