One Day at a Time

Series: One day at a time | Story 129

Well we have been having a few cold and cloudy days here in our little valley, we have been getting some rain and on a lot of days it has been really overcast, we have even had some foggy mornings.

The cats were ready for a warm breakfast, they ate in a hurry and went to get back in their warm beds.

Bob is washing the breakfast dishes and when he finishes the kitchen will be spotless.

The house is nice and warm. The old wood heating stove is doing a good job, I put firewood in it a little while ago and now outside I can see the smoke drifting down towards the ground. I know wood heat is messy, but I think it is the best kind of heat and it sure is the least expensive.

Bobby got all the firewood on the back porch ranked up neat and all of it is covered up good, so we will have plenty of dry firewood even if it comes a heavy rain or a big snow.

I hope all of you are looking forward to this new year, I know we are. Nobody knows what this year will be like, only God does.

We all need to be planning ahead, that is one thing that we can do to make the best of whatever happens.

There is going to be bad things and good things, but I am going to look for the good in everything and thank the good Lord for another day.

We have got all the Christmas decorations down and back in storage. My house is slowly starting to get back to normal.

We enjoyed Christmas with our family and our friends, we really enjoyed having over Dr. Khim, Andrea, Katie and Dena during Christmas for the first time, they take such good care of us, thank all of you.

We still have not seen any snow other than a few flakes, the weather forecasters keeps calling for a chance of it, but we will probably be getting some before long.

Our wintertime has really just began and I am ready for it, we have got our firewood stacked at the back door and the old wood heating stove is working good.

I really like watching it snowing outside and making a big pot of homemade soup and sitting it on top of the old wood heating stove, it keeps the soup warm until we are ready to eat and makes the house smell so good.

I have been crocheting a lot, for each of my daughters and granddaughters, I made an afghan for Christmas and they loved them.

I have got a quilt cut out and I am ready to start sewing, right next to my chair I have got some quilt pieces, thread and my thimble, ladies I am ready.

Today is going to be a busy day, I have got to get a little more cleaning done and I have got to get dinner started, we are having pinto beans, taters, slaw and a pan of chicken and dressing. Drano are you hungry yet?

I am not going to worry about tomorrow and I am going to take one day at a time because God still has it all under control and He is the light at the end of the tunnel.
