Tommy Eugene Moon

February 22, 2024

Tommy Eugene Moon, born May 21, 1948, to the late Bud & Maude Clark Moon, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at the age of 75.

Above all else, Tommy loved his family and always put them first. He worked for The Sawmill in Lewis County up until his health declined, he loved it so much that he wished every day to go back. In his spare time, he loved to build things and tinker, but he hated to do any type of plumbing work. He always knew God, but he recently met Him and was baptized December 31, 2023. He read and studied the Bible daily and when he got to where he couldn't read anymore, Sandra would read it to him, for hours on end. He was a good hard worker, honest and his word was his bond.

He loved the USA, and proudly served his country with the United States Army from 1967 - 1969, serving during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years Sandra York Moon, son Thomas (Amy) Moon, son Chris (Michel) Moon, Baby Daughter Mechelle (Dennis) Johnston, grandchildren and great grandchildren Dilan, Brantley and Wesley Moon, Nick, Katie, Mitchell Moon, Alley York, Dustin Moon, Jordan, Makayla, Brana, Preston and Mazie Jo Moon, Breanna Hensley, Raelee Moon and Jesse Johnston, brother Jimmy Moon, sisters Bonnie Curtis and Janet Cotham and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by in-laws Satan and Ruth York, brothers Cecil, Ernest and Billy Moon, and sisters Alpha (Alice) Morgan, Bessie Hinson and Mary Farmer.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 24 at Highland Baptist Church on Highway 412 West in Hohenwald. A visitation with the family will be from 12:00 noon until service time beginning at 2:30 p.m.

In his memory and the memory of his beloved companion of 15 years Bella, the family asks that donations be made to the Greenview Veterinary Clinic in Hohenwald or to the High Forest Humane Society.

McDonald Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Moon family.
