One Day At A Time: March 7, 2024

Series: One day at a time | Story 133

Well it is a quiet and peaceful morning here in our little valley. It seems like these days are quickly getting warmer, but this last Friday it was cool enough that we had a little fire in the old wood heating stove.

The cats were here early this morning for their breakfast, they ate and then got back into their beds for a morning cat nap, they have a rough life.

Bob is washing our breakfast dishes, and I am having my coffee and just enjoying this morning. You have to enjoy the good moments when you can, soon I will have to get busy because we have got a lot on our to do list.

Here we are already in March and getting closer to Spring and much warmer weather is ahead, I think most everybody is ready for springtime to get here.

We have got a lot of Spring cleaning to do, it is amazing how much dust and dirt settles on everything during the wintertime. It is almost time to clean the windows and open them up and let all the fresh air in.

Bob is doing a lot better and he is really looking forward to getting out and getting some things done. He has got a lot of Spring cleaning to do out in his outbuildings, things just seem to multiply over the years.

Last year Bob kept telling me that he would have swept my floors and porches but he just could not find a broom, so this year I am planning on buying a lot of brooms and setting them out all over the place, so after Bob finishes the dishes in the mornings he will be able to find one to sweep.

This morning with our breakfast we had chocolate gravy again to go along with our homemade brown biscuits. I know we have to stop doing that because it is starting to show, but some Spring cleaning will work it off.

We were out running errands and I noticed how green the yards are all starting to get, some folks were even already mowing in places. It seems like just yesterday we were dealing with cold and snow, where does the time go?

We better keep an eye on the weather because we still have some little winters to go, like blackberry winter and dogwood winter. Do not forget that March came in like a lamb so they say it is going to go out like a lion.

The little cold snaps do not last long but sometimes the scattered frost can slow down the gardens and hurt the fruit trees. Maybe the weather will be like everything else and change, but not for the bad, we all need some good things to happen for a change.

I went to the grocery store and I checked the prices and almost everything has gone up in price, and we hear almost everyday about there are going to be shortages on some things.

Gas is going up and down. You never know what the prices of things will be from one day to the next. It still seems like a lot of people are still shopping and lots of new buildings are popping up.

No matter what happens life still goes on and people just have to adjust. We are staying home more and believe it are not we are enjoying staying at home instead of being on the go all the time.

We are keeping a more closer eye on our spending and we check and compare prices on everything. If you really watch your money you would be surprised where it goes and how much things cost.

Bob has finished the breakfast dishes and is having his coffee. The cats are back up for a snack and the birds are eating at the feeders in the backyard. This morning when I was out feeding the cats I heard a dove and that really makes me think of Spring.

The sun is starting to shine a little and it looks like it is going to be a beautiful day. I have got a busy day planned ahead and I am looking forward to it.

I am not going to worry about tomorrow and I am going to take one day at a time because God still has it all under control and He is the light at the end of the tunnel.

God bless,

Evelyn “E.T.” Trevathan
