James Sloan Franklin

James Sloan Franklin passed away at the age of 94 on Monday, March 18, 2024, in Murfreesboro. He was born on September 9, 1929, in Limestone County, Alabama, to the late George Alfa Franklin and Myrtle Ethel Turner Franklin. A decorated veteran, he retired as a Chief Master Sergeant after 24 years of dedicated service in the US Air Force, leaving a legacy of honor and commitment.

In addition to his parents, George and Myrtle, he is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Bessie Lenore Brackeen Franklin, and their son, James Steven Franklin.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughter, Karen L. Johnston of Nashville, his grandchildren, Michelle (Gregory) Garcia, Moriah Garland, and Jo Zeferino; and his great-grandchildren, Christian Wade, Lance Garcia, Evan Garcia, Jonah Garland, and Noelia Zeferino.

Funeral services were held on Friday, March 22, 2024. Burial and military funeral honors followed at Grinders Creek Cemetery.
