One Day at a Time

Series: One day at a time | Story 140

Well it sure is a quiet and peaceful morning here in our little valley. There is a little cool breeze blowing and there is a few clouds, but the sun is shining. I am sitting out on the front porch and I have a small blanket and my coffee with me.

The cats were here earlier and ate their breakfast, now that they are full they have gone to take their morning nap.

Bob is finishing washing the breakfast dishes and then he will join me on the porch with his coffee.

I think the weather is supposed to be nice and warm for the next few days

The neighbor’s cows our grazing in their pasture. The birds are busy this morning singing and I have heard several doves this morning.

The trees have really gotten full of leaves over the last few days. The apples on the old apple tree in the yard are beginning to show now. We have lots of little blueberries on our bushes, I guess everything has been waiting on springtime.

We had been trying to walk each day, but here lately we have been busy trying to get things done now that it has warmed up and it has been hard finding time to walk, but we are going to get back to walking again. We sure feel better when we walk.

The cats always love to walk with us, they know when we are going to walk and they will be right there with us ready to go. Sometimes they will start to go walk and look back at us like they are saying come on lets go.

Thank all of you for reading my ramblings every week, I sure hope you enjoy them. I have had several people tell me that they read them each week and I tell them it is just my ramblings about my real life and that I enjoy everyday of it.

Bob and me are both having birthdays in May, and we are both in good health for our age, I think it is because we try to live simple and take one day at a time and enjoy each day.

We were out running errands and we saw a lot of people out working in their yards, and we saw some people on tractors out working in fields, I guess the cold weather is over and it is time for people to start putting out their crops.

It seems like there are not as many big farms anymore. I know I have heard people say it cost too much for the seed, fertilizer, fuel and the equipment. I guess it has just gotten easier and cheaper for us to go to the grocery store and buy mostly imported food from different parts of the world.

I just wonder what we would do if something happened to our food supply chain, what would we all eat? It would take a lot of hard work to start a farm, and you can not grow food or raise animals overnight. I remember just recently when they had all the problems in California with the cargo ships being unable to dock and unload their goods.

I guess things are changing everyday and this is a new world that we are living in now. I think it would be a good idea for us to be prepared because now a days just about anything could happen without any warning. I think a lot of people get relaxed and start thinking that some things will never happen, but if you remember back not too many years ago people thought with all the advances in medicine that we would never have another pandemic then along came something called covid.

Bob has got the dishes done and the kitchen clean and we are now enjoying our coffee, but soon we will have to get busy. We have got another busy day planned ahead of us, lately we have been doing a lot of cleaning, it is amazing how much needs to be done, do not put off until tomorrow what you can do today.

I am not going to worry about tomorrow and I am going to take one day at a time because God still has it all under control and He is the light at the end of the tunnel.

God bless,

Evelyn “E.T.” Trevathan
