Water is water, right?
Well, no. Water in the pipes of a factory or a commercial business or irrigation lines - even in the pipes that feed a swimming pool - may become contaminated with oil, grease, dirt or chemicals. Water standing in pipes may become stale or develop micro-organisms.
That is why it is important for all water users to help present
backflow.
