Lewis County continued to lead the state with blood donations (on a per capita basis). A total of 157 pints were donated during the Red Cross Blood Mobile visit held here. It was also reported that a larger number of prospective donors were turned away due to a shortage of bottles to handle the incoming blood. The newspaper added, “This blood is being flown to Korea daily to save the lives of our boys who are being wounded over there on the snow covered hills of that country and we just cannot afford to let up on this work [blood donations]...
