One Day At A Time

Series: One day at a time | Story 1

Well it is a beautiful morning here in our little valley, a little cool but it is early spring and our days are getting warmer.

I went out to feed the cats and I stopped and looked out across the yard, the pear trees are white as snow and under them are some beautiful yellow bushes and then there are the buttercups still in bloom. And then I looked up to see the prettiest blue sky and not a cloud anywhere. It was God painting a picture. The birds were singing and the doves were calling back and forth to each other. I stood there and felt the peace, and I thought about just how big God is and He knows all about the trouble around us. And then I thought about when my kids were little and they would get in trouble, I would put them in a chair, if that didn’t work I would take away their toys and if that didn’t work they got a good spanking, of course that hurt me worse then them. Then all was well for a while and then we would have to go through it all again. Sometimes I would have to spank a little harder. No! It was not abuse, read your Bible. But I begin to think about what is going on in our world today and I’m not thinking about kids, I think maybe God is saying to us “behave” and are we listening? Sometimes a while back we were driving down the highway and I saw a sign on a church billboard, it said, “Jesus is coming soon and boy is he mad!” Yes! Jesus gets mad, read your Bible.

Well back to a peaceful morning, birds singing, cats playing, doves calling each other and beautiful flowers. I have my cup of hot coffee. I can hear the old John Deere tractor off in the distance, there is still a few bales of hay down by the creek. It won’t be long until hay season again and then we will be seeing hay cutting and bailing. I love to see that.

I’m not going to worry about tomorrow but I’m going to do the best I can today.

God has it all under control and He is the light at the end of the tunnel.

God bless,

Evelyn “E.T.” Trevathan
