The temperatures for the past week would say summer is officially here although it doesn’t start on the calendar until June 21st. We have had lots of rain and the creeks even got up but not out in our area anyway and the weather people predict rain for almost every day this week. I know I have said this before but my dad always said “don’t complain about the rain for someday we will need it”.

Those who are sick or shut-in and in need of prayers for whatever the need: G.Y. Bennett, Connie Bonner, Dorothy Brown, Amy Carroll, Joann Carroll, Kathleen Carroll, Spencer Clark, Fada Clay, Bailey Cromwell, Johnny Dryden, Larry Evans, Buffy Farnsworth, Helen Hardin, Christy Hinson is being moved to Centerville Life Care, Mickey James, Faye Kilpatrick, Monet King, Colben Ly, Jerry McCann, Jackie McFall, Earl Rasbury, Shirley Reeves, Mona Runions, Boyce Sims, Nell Skelton, Jim and Jan Walker, Diane White, and Annette Williams. There are still many sick in our area so please remember all those you know of in your daily prayers and pray for the healing of our nation.

Happy birthday to Peggy McCann and Erica Deline the 14th, Shawn Clayton and Danny Atkinson the 16th, and Eric Hilhouse the 18th; wishing for these many more happy days to celebrate life and hope they have a great birthday.

Happy anniversary to Gary and Pam Graham the 12th, and Corbin and Jennifer Carroll the 14th. We wish for these couples many more years to celebrate life together.

We express sympathy to the families of Howard Edward Spears, Michael Joseph Greenlee, David Franklin Baggett, and Paul “Booker” Gardner Booker.Prayers for these families and any other families that have lost loved ones.

With the warmer weather and temperatures, even at night, there have been many who have their pools ready for a cool dip during the hot days, and also many who enjoy the creeks and other water sources in the area. Many are kayaking and canoeing the streams in this and adjoining counties. We hope they remember that too much exposure to the sun is not good and can cause severe pain when sunburn occurs, so use a sun block that will protect you and especially those children that are out around the water for this intensifies the sun’s effect.

It seems that the virus has gotten less severe and many things that were cancelled last summer are scheduled to happen this year with VBS at many places and public gatherings that are not as limited at this time. We pray this holds true and that we can enjoy once again the things that we all enjoy doing and especially family outings and get-togethers.

The gardens around the area are producing nicely and many share their bounty with others. My sister has brought me squash, broccoli and cauliflower from their garden and Jimmy and Faye Johnston have shared cabbage and squash with several at church including me. The cabbage heads are the biggest, firmest that I have seen and so good to use in any way you like. A great big thanks to all those who share their fruits of their labor with others.

Praying that you have a great week and take time to get out and see the beauty of the world around us that God has prepared for us to see and enjoy. May your days be blessed with sunshine and happiness.
