The Tennessee Department of Health recently announced that their Covid-19 updates will now be made weekly instead of daily.

The shift in data release will begin this week with updates being posted on Wednesdays which will include the previous Sunday through Saturday period.

In an article written by the Associated Press, Tennessee’s Health Commissioner, Dr. Lisa Piercey said the new schedule will allow the department to focus on both “pre-pandemic priorities,” such as drug overdose deaths, and Covid-19 data.

“Piercey said the number of reported virus cases are becoming less accurate due to an increase in at-home testing. She said no matter what the data shows, safety measures such as getting Covid-19 vaccinations, wearing masks and isolating when sick should continue,” read the article.
