One Day at a Time

Series: One day at a time | Story 34

Well it is a winter morning here in our little valley. We have about 3 1/2 inches of snow, it is really pretty. I have got a good warm fire in the old wood heater and I just finished my coffee. The cats didn’t want to get out of their warm beds, not even for their bowl of warm milk, but they finally did and they ate and then they when right back to their bed.

I hope you all are looking forward to a brand new year and have made some plans. I am thinking it will be a much better year and I am looking forward to seeing what God will do for us. I am expecting great things, “as our faith is so be it”.

On New Years Day we had our traditional blackeye peas, hog jowl and cabbage. We are blessed, I am sure there are other people in this world that don’t have traditions or didn’t even have anything to eat.

I am making a big pot of homemade vegetable soup and a big cast iron skillet of cornbread for dinner today. This kind of weather to me is soup weather. I will put it on the old wood heating stove and it will be good and hot for dinner.

I worked some on my quilt last night. The wind was blowing and it was raining and then it started to snow. I thought that the power might go out but I had my oil lamps full and ready, so I could have lit them if I had to. We are supposed to have some more winter weather about Thursday, maybe some more snow. We have got plenty of firewood stacked on the porch and a good wood heating stove so we are ready if it comes. Thursday I may even make some potato soup, I guess you all know by now we like any kind of homemade soup.

We are still hearing a lot about covid being out there, but it seems most people are being more careful, so maybe this covid mess will end soon.

I have finished my second cup of coffee and I have got to kindle up the fire and get my soup on to cook. I am planning on a busy day. I have got to do some cleaning now that all the Christmas decorations are back in storage.

You know I am not going to worry about tomorrow and I am going to take one day at a time because God has it all under control and He is the light at the end of the tunnel.

God Bless.
