On Sunday afternoon we finally received some much-needed rain arriving during the thunderstorm in the early afternoon. Not sure how much we got but every little bit helps when it has been dry for so long. Gardens have still been producing but it is a wonder because it has been so dry for several weeks. Many in the areas where there are creeks have been enjoying a cooling dip in the waters that flow so freely and are usually very cooling for there are so many springs that flow into them.

Those I know of who are sick either at home, in nursing facilities or in the hospitals are: Terry Anderson, Connie Bonner, L.C. Bowen, Kathleen Carroll, Spencer Clark, Fada Clay, Bailey Cromwell, Buffy Farnsworth, Calvin Harris, Cruz Henderson, Labri Kendricks, Martha Hensley, Lyda Mae Hooper, Shirley Howe, Monette King, Colben Ly, Raquel Mallari, Brittany Mash, Linda Mercer, Greg McCann, Mike McCann, Howard Miller, Jackie McFall, Betty Odom, Pam Pullman, Colene Rasbury, Mona Runions, Bill Seiber, Roy Sharp, Joe Shipp, Vickie Skelton, Nell Skelton, Howard Tripp, Jim Walker, and Annette Williams. Please pray for these in your daily prayers that they might be better and for any others that need prayers. Remember also in your prayers in areas where there are wars and daily fear for themselves and their families and the soldiers that are stationed there.

We wish a happy birthday to Chanda Reeves July 1st, Shannon Graves the 2nd, Shonda Carroll the 5th, and Kim Atkinson the 8th. Wishing for these a very happy birthday and many more years to celebrate life.

Happy anniversary to Ronnie and Jamie Hinson and Dennis and Brenda King July 2nd, to Jason and Dana Sims the 5th, and Glen and Carol Hinson the 7th.Wishing for these couples many more years to celebrate life together.

Prayers for all those who have lost loved ones this past week. Those I know of include John McCann, Clara Prince, Ganger Wright, Robert Orline Quilla Walker Jr., Helen Catherine Palomba, Donna Faye (Garrison) Owen, and Daniel Lee Spears Sr. Prayers for all these families and any others about which we may not know.

There are four teams in softball and baseball from Lewis County that will be playing in the state tournaments later in July. This is quite an honor for these boys and girls and once again we thank the coaching staff that has brought them this far by working with them. We wish them luck in the upcoming games. One of the girls’ softball teams, who was sponsored by Adair during regular season, also won a sportsmanship trophy, each girl on the team got a trophy. Congratulations to them and their coaches.

The end of this week will mark the beginning of a new month and the last half of the year. Let us try to remember all those who died and served to make this nation as great as it is and pray daily for it to continue to be a nation where we have peace and many freedoms that other nations do not have. Celebrate our Independence Day on the fourth of July by remembering why we celebrate this holiday.
