Serving Hohenwald, Lewis County Tennessee Since 1898
Another hot dry week in the middle Tennessee area, I am sure you hear others say that we are drier than they can remember in many years, and this is what I hear also. It our area it is usually hot and dry in late July and August but not as early as June was. Maybe there will be some rain coming soon and when it does it always makes the trees and shrubs look better as it washes all the dust from the foliage. If you have breathing problems, be careful when you are out and be sure to stay hydrated the heat seems to hurt many who are affected with these problems.
Those I know of who are sick either at home, in nursing facilities or in the hospitals are: Terry Anderson, Connie Bonner, L C Bowen, Kathleen Carroll, Madison Chappell, Spencer Clark, Fada Clay, Bailey Cromwell, Buffy Farnsworth, Wilburn Franks, Calvin Harris, Labri Kendricks, Martha Hensley, Lyda Mae Hooper, Shirley Howe, Monette King, Bruce Ligon, Colben Ly, Raquel Mallari, Brittany Mash, Linda Mercer, Greg McCann, Mike McCann, Howard Miller, Jackie McFall, Betty Odom, Pam Pullman, Colene Rasbury, Mona Runions, Bill Seiber, Roy Sharp, Joe Ship, Vickie Skelton, Nell Skelton, Cameron Tripp, Howard Tripp, Jim Walker, and Annette Williams. Prayers for all those who have lost loved ones this past week that I know of Jamie Lee Smotherman, Ashley Jane Bridge, Gary William Moore, Wanda Kay Tidwell, Tommy “Poppy” Lee Pickard, Jackie Donald McFarlin, Bernice Faye Kilpatrick, Judy Bentley, and Josie Dickey. Prayers for all these families and any others about which we may not know.
This year is moving much too fast, but it seems that is true with each passing year. The cicadas are already being quite noisy when it gets dark and the children love to look around the trees to find the dry bugs as we call them which the jar flies, not sure what they are really called, hatch from. This should signal fall is just around the corner and with it maybe more rain and cooler weather.
Congratulations to all the ball teams who have for the most part finished with the tournaments; most of you know by now that there were five teams from Lewis County who played in all-stars and state tournaments. This is quite an honor for our county, and I think we can be proud of all those who participated in the ball season this year.
I would like to thank our library staff for the great programs they had for the children this summer and they are still doing story hour every Tuesday so if you have little ones, I know they will love this and it is interesting to see what new stories Jamie comes up with. We have a wonderful library staff and should be thankful to them.
Praying for you and your family to have a good week and be safe and happy.
