Well it is a beautiful and quiet fall morning here in our little valley. It is a little cool but I am sitting on my front porch and it is so quiet and peaceful, I know before long in the mornings I will not be able to sit out here on the front porch because it will soon be wintertime and it will be far to cold to be out here, then I will be sitting inside by the old wood heating stove with a good warm fire going. The cats have had their breakfast and they are snuggled down for a nap, they sleep more when it gets cooler but they like these nice fall days. I will have to bring out there wintertime beds before it turns real cold. I think the weather is suppose to be cooler this weekend.

We have been busy this week, if any of you have been down our road then you might see that we have started our decorating, I have put some up on the front porch and I have started decorating in the house. We do not have any lights up yet, we don’t put up lights around the house and everything like we use to do, but we still put lots of lights on the trees, so we will still let our little lights shine. Some people think I am a little silly decorating for Christmas before Thanksgiving, but my kids all come for Thanksgiving and they look forward to seeing everything decorated.

Bob is still sweeping and raking leaves, but the leaves will all be gone before long, some of the trees seems to be holding on to their leaves but after we get a few cold rains this fall they will be gone too. The squirrels know the cold is coming, I have never seen so many squirrels, there are lots of them here in the front yard now and they are as busy as they can be, every one of them seems to be carrying something, I guess they are all getting ready for winter.

I guess all the gardens are gone, I think people had good luck with their gardens this year and were able to grow plenty even though it was so dry this year, I saw the other day where they were talking about how the Mississippi river was so low that the barges were stuck in their ports, they said lots of the barges were loaded with soybeans and this would raise the cost of soybeans next year and soybeans are used in a whole lot of things.

We did get some rain last week, not a lot but every little bit helps. The wind sure was blowing really hard and some of our friends in west Tennessee had some bad storms.

I hope all of you are able to get your turkeys for Thanksgiving, I hear they may become scarce and expensive. I have already got mine and at that time they were not too expensive. Back in the day lots of people did not have access to turkeys like we do now a days where we can just go to a big store and buy one. Old folks used to always have chicken and dressing too, I like it better but I like the old ways, now a days people see and hear that they have to have turkey.

I have got to get busy, I have got a lot to do and there is a lot that needs to be done, it just seems the days go by so fast, you get a few things done and then the day is gone.

I am not going to worry about tomorrow and I am going to take one day at a time because God still has it all under control and He is the light at the end of the tunnel.

God bless
