December 10, 2020

The weather has been the talk of everyone around since the rain on Thursday when a partly warm day with sunshine took a turn to the rainy side and cancelled the Christmas Parade for that night. The parade was rescheduled for Tuesday night. Let us hope for a better night and not so bitter cold. By the time this is published we will know what happened.

Happy birthday to Dana Sims December 11, Brogan Barnes December 12, Eddie Holt, December 13, Zander Tripp December 14, and Mark McDonald December 17. Wishing for these many more happy days to celebrate life and hope they have a great birthday.

Happy anniversary to Bobby and Sarah Carroll on December 12. We wish for them a very happy anniversary and many more years to celebrate life together.

Maria Tripp was honored with a surprise birthday party on her birthday Saturday, December 5. It was held at her aunt’s house and several friends and family attended. It is hard to keep a secret from an eight year old but we did it and she was surprised when she walked in and people yelled happy birthday to her. She received many clothes and nice gifts and each child attending received a goodie bag and there were balloons for everyone.

We express sympathy to the families of Judy McDonald, Kimberly Dawn Hinson Sanders, Larry Dean Johnson, Tony “Da” Carroll, Jonathan Lee Harrison, Elaine Irene Dankert Callis, Elois Kay Duncan (nee Springer), Johnnie Bee Rogers, Riley Allen Jenkins, Sarah Christian Brown, Johnny Dwayne Creasy, and Annie “Peggy” Deen. Prayers for these families and any other families who have lost loved ones.

Before we know it, this year will be over and, hopefully, we will enter a new year with a much better life for all those who have been sick during this year. There have been many setbacks during the time of quarantines for people, especially those in nursing facilities and hospitals where family have not even been allowed to visit. We even had an experience with that when my daughter had a bad gall bladder attack and was in ICU for over a week and then in ICU step-down for a week. She was a patient in the hospital for over a month then a nursing facility for a week. During that time we were not allowed to see her and, the first several days, could not even talk to her for she was on a vent and sedated because of how sick she was. Thankfully, the nurses and doctors called and kept us updated on her condition. We thank God she recovered and is now much better after having the gall bladder removed. I did not know that infection from gall bladder could shut your kidneys down, but it did hers. Thankfully, they are functional now and no problems.

Children are counting down the days until Christmas and looking for the time they will receive new clothes and toys. Hopefully, all children realize that Christmas is more than toys and other things they get.

Girl Scouts will begin selling cookies on the tenth of December. So if you want Girl Scout cookies, please contact a Girl Scout or some leader to get your order in. Thanks for all the help with the troops as this year has been hard for us as well as on other groups.

Praying for you to have a happy and healthy week and coming weeks. Remember those less fortunate and if you cannot visit, call or send a card. This always makes them feel better and lets them know people are thinking about them.
