One Day at a Time

Series: One day at a time | Story 39

February 10, 2022

Well it is a cold morning here in our little valley, it is 16 degrees but the sun is shining and there is a pretty blue sky. The cats have ate their breakfast and are playing out in the sunshine. Today is a lot different from yesterday at this time, yesterday we were having freezing rain and sleet and snow flurries, but it is winter time. Yesterday while the weather was bad I made a big pot of spaghetti, it seems like food like that always taste better on cold wintry days, we just sit back and ate and enjoy the winters day.

You know we can always find something good in everyday, that is what I look for. Even though it was cold outside our house was good and warm, we had a fire going in the old wood heating stove and we are all felling better. I know there are a lot of bad things going on in the world around us, but there is not much we can do except pray and trust in the good Lord, and I do that a lot.

I believe the covid will slow down and go away but there has always been some kind of virus or sickness going around and with the Lords help we always get through it. I am trying to keep a positive attitude and I think that helps me to stay strong.

I haven’t finished that baby quilt yet but I don’t like much and I have got another one together and waiting so when I finish this one I can start on it.

Spring will be here before you know, we are already getting lots of seed catalogs in the mail, I remember my daddy would always plant his potatoes and peas in late February or early March, of course back then we would have two gardens, an early one and a late one, those new potatoes and peas that he always planted each year sure were good, a lot better than any store bought ones, some of you know what I am talking about. My mamma would go out as soon as the potato plants bloomed and dig up those small new potatoes and pick off those first tender English peas and cook them all together in one big pot, and let me tell you there was nothing like that, it makes me hungry just thinking about it.

I have got a busy day ahead of me today, I am doing house cleaning today. I think we are suppose to have some sunshine and warmer temperatures for the next few days but we are not out of winter yet, on these cold wintry days I like to do my sewing and quilting, but when spring gets here I will have to put all that away for a while, because in the spring I will be busy gardening and canning and freezing. I think we all will be glad to see spring time, until then let’s all look for something good in everyday, and let’s all be thankful and pray a little harder.

I am not going to worry about tomorrow and I am going to take one day at a time because God has it all under control and He is the light at the end of the tunnel.

God Bless
