Serving Hohenwald, Lewis County Tennessee Since 1898

Gordonsburg/ Little Swan News

Series: Gordonsburg | Story 105

Hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable fourth of July weekend and remembered those who served and are serving to make this nation the greatest place on earth to live. There is no other nation that enjoys the freedoms that we have in this land and someday we may be like many others and loose this freedom.

It has been a very hot summer but the last few days the humidity has been lower which influences the temperatures to feel not as hot. We are still very dry, and gardens are suffering along with pastures and yards and the beautiful world that God has created for us to enjoy. Leaves are falling like fall of the year and when yards are mowed it is with a cloud of dust. About the only place to cool off is in the air conditioning or the creeks around the area.

Those I know of who are sick either at home, in nursing facilities or in the hospitals are: Terry Anderson, Connie Bonner, L.C. Bowen, Kathleen Carroll, Spencer Clark, Fada Clay, Bailey Cromwell, Buffy Farnsworth, Calvin Harris, Cruz Henderson, Labri Kendricks, Martha Hensley, Lyda Mae Hooper, Shirley Howe, Monette King, Colben Ly, Raquel Mallari, Brittany Mash, Linda Mercer, Claire Elizabeth Mayberry (2 ½ year old granddaughter of Darryl and Lillie Mayberry), Greg McCann, Mike McCann, Howard Miller, Jackie McFall, Betty Odom, Pam Pullman, Colene Rasbury, Mona Runions, Bill Seiber, Roy Sharp, Joe Shipp, Vickie Skelton, Nell Skelton, Howard Tripp, Jim Walker, and Annette Williams.

Please pray for these in your daily prayers that they might be better and for any others that need prayers. Remember also in your prayers in areas where there are wars and daily fear for themselves and their families and the soldiers that are stationed there. We also pray for all those who are experiencing problems in their life which cause them to turn to things that only cause more problems and can never help with the real problem.

We wish a happy birthday to Eddie Carroll and Rhonda Tiller the 10th, Josh Roberson, Cynthia Kilpatrick, and Lynn Brown the 11th, Ben Barrier the 12th, Clay Runions the 13th, and Christie Troutman, Burton Barber, Dustin Stutts, Wylie Carroll, and Adam Roberson the 14th. Wishing for these a very happy birthday and many more years to celebrate life.

Happy anniversary to Johnny and Judy Bennett the 10th, Lee and Cathey Carroll the 11th, and to Marty and Shondra Carroll the 14th. Wishing for these couples many more years to celebrate life together.

Prayers for all those who have lost loved ones this past week. Those I know of include Franklin Delanor Anderson, Barbara Louise Beard, Maggie Sue Pigg, and Paula Faye Litton. Prayers for all these families and any others about which we may not know.

There are five ball teams from Lewis County that will be playing in state tournaments around the state. This is quite an honor for Lewis County so if you have the opportunity, please support these teams as they travel to different places and pray for the safety of them and their families.

Many families are traveling during this time of year, and many are enjoying get togethers with family. This is a great privilege for any who have a chance to be together. Our family enjoyed a hamburger and hot dog cookout on Sunday because of work schedules for some of them. We had a great time and enjoyed being together. Hope your family was able to be together and celebrate the holiday.

Prayers for all to have a safe and happy coming week and enjoy those around you. Remember those who are less fortunate and cannot get out. Visit if you can or call or send a card to let them know you think of them.
