    Joseph "Joe" Samuel Churchwell Sr., age 87 of Hohenwald, passed away on May 4, 2020 at his residence. He was born on November 11, 1932 to the late John Churchwell and Florence (LaRue) Churchwell. He graduated from Lewis County High School in 1952. After graduation he moved north to Ohio and worked for several years.     A severe thunderstorm system with winds that reached up to 70 mph roared through Hohenwald and middle Tennessee on Sunday, May 3, uprooting trees and taking down power lines.
